At least five more bodies have been recovered by emergency officials from the town submerged by flood in Indonesia, increasing the death toll from 17 to 23.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency informed that after an earlier report of the earlier figure, six other bodies were recovered following efforts by a rescuing team who declared that other individuals are still missing in two of the country’s islands where the tragedy happened.
The agency stated that rigorous search are ongoing at Bali and Island Flores despite occurrences of debris which has caused an uneasy rescuing activity at the scenes.
The agency’s chief, Suharyanto, on Friday, disclosed that the estimated losses from the disaster has amounted to 23 billion rupiah ($1.52 million).
Suharyanto added that the Indonesia authorities have distributed aid items including food, clothes and beds for those affected after the mishap.
While commiserating with the victims and their families, the agency’s head urged the citizens to be calm and vigilant, also calling for more intervention by the government in providing adequate succour for the victims of the tragic incident.
