The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, and one Joel Adoga will be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, over serious allegations involving public funds.

Separately, El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule face charges at the Kaduna State High Court, with both cases focusing on financial misconduct during his administration, marking a major step in ongoing anti-corruption efforts.

The State High Court charges include abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, among others. Both sets of charges were filed by the ICPC on March 18, 2026.

El-Rufai has been in detention since he honoured an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 16, 2026. He spent 48 hours in EFCC custody before being transferred to the ICPC.

In a statement on Monday, ICPC spokesman John Odey said the former governor has been duly served and that the date for his arraignment in the State High Court will be communicated by the Court in due course.

The statement added, “The ICPC wishes to inform the public that Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’i has been duly served. The ICPC restates its commitment to adhering fully to due process and the rule of law at all times.”
