Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially become a three-time Guinness World Records holder, following a surprise confirmation from the organization, adding another prestigious title to her growing list of culinary achievements.
The latest accolade comes from her June 2025 attempt to set the record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, during which she and her team prepared 8,780 kilograms of the dish, producing thousands of plates in a large-scale collaborative effort.
Baci discovered the new record on Wednesday when she checked her emails and found a message from Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at Guinness World Records.
He informed her that her feat also qualified as the largest serving of rice overall, earning her a second record for the same attempt.
Fanning explained that the new record was awarded āproactivelyā, meaning Guinness noticed the additional milestone during their review of her original jollof rice attempt.
“It has come to our attention that when you and your team achieved the ‘Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice,’ you also met the criteria for the ‘Largest serving of rice.’ You have therefore been proactively awarded this title as well,” the email read.
This dual recognition made her an official three-time Guinness World Record holder without the need for a separate attempt, marking a historic moment for Nigerian cuisine on the global stage.
In an Instagram post, Hilda Baci expressed her excitement saying, “Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and Iām still trying to wrap my head around it. What a way to step into 2026.”
“So what I thought was one record⦠turned out to be two. And now, officially, that makes three Guinness World Records in total.”
This latest achievement builds on her previous records, including the longest cooking marathon and her first record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, cementing her reputation as one of Africaās most celebrated record-breaking chefs.
