Gunmen have killed two villagers and abducted three others during a late-night attack on Iwanev community at Ugbema Junction in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to sources, the attackers stormed the community under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents before killing two people and whisking away three others to an unknown destination.
The attack has plunged the community into fear, with residents expressing concern over the worsening security situation and the possibility of further assaults.
Community members are appealing to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, Raymond Aondoakura, to take immediate and decisive action to restore peace and safeguard lives and property.
Residents also urged security agencies to intensify patrols, conduct thorough investigations, track down the perpetrators, and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted individuals.
