Gunmen kill security guard during Queens College raid in Oyo

A security guard manning gate of Queens College in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, has been reported killed by gunmen during a raid on the school and its environs.

It was learnt that the security guard was killed by the gunmen, who stormed the premises with sophisticated arms, while trying to resist the attack on the school facility.

The raid, according to eyewitnesses, occurred on Saturday at the college’s premises in Apata, Ido Local Government Area of the state.
Eyewitnesses said the security guards tried to resist the armed robbers but could not march the fireworks of the bandits as one of them was felled by the bullets.
According to one of the eyewitnesses, who did not want his name in print, the armed robbers engaged in sporadic shooting to scare the residents and the neighbourhood guards.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the killings and said an investigation was still ongoing and an update would be provided accordingly.
