Activities at the Nigerian Police divisional headquarters in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State were reported to have been halted after gunmen attacked the Policemen deployed to the station at a checkpoint and killed about three law enforcement officers.
Aside from the murder, a patrol van of the cops, a Toyota Sienna, which was recently donated to the Umutu Police Division to aid their patrol, was razed down by the gunmen in the state.
The checkpoint mounted along the Obeti/Oliogo road in the local government was reported to have been attacked on Wednesday around 7:40 a.m when the personnel was searching vehicles to prevent crime rates in the state.
Speaking on the attack, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, but did not give details of what transpired at the scene.
