A former councillor in Adamawa State has reportedly been killed by armed men who also abducted two of his sons after invading his home in Kirchinga, Madagali Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, Thlama Sini, who had represented Kirchinga Ward during his time in office, died from gunshot wounds sustained after the gunmen attacked his residence.
Sini was reportedly killed in the bush after the assailants dragged him and his sons from their home, despite his pleas for mercy.
The armed men, whose motive for targeting the former councillor remains unclear, were said to have forced their way into his compound, shooting sporadically before carrying out the abduction.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers headed straight to Siniâs residence and ordered him to follow them into the forest with his children.
A family member recounted that Sini tried to reason with the gunmen, explaining that he was battling diabetes and hypertension, but the attackers rejected all negotiation attempts.
âHe told them he could not survive the journey and begged them to name whatever ransom they wanted,â the source said.
Residents described the incident as a devastating blow, especially given Kirchingaâs history of sporadic terrorist incursions.
âThis incident has shaken everyone here. People are terrified because the community has always lived under threats, but this one feels different,â a local resident said.
Police have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, and the search for the abducted boys continues as families hope for their safe return.
