Three daughters of the Managing Director of the Plateau State Water Board, Apollos Samchi, were abducted by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday during an attack on his residence in the Rantya area of Jos South Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the assailants forced their way into Samchi’s house and abducted his three daughters, Nanlop, Kyenret, and Favour Samchi.
The gunmen were said to have shot the family’s security guard, Benard Makjwan, during the attack after he attempted to stop them from carrying out the abduction.
Makjwan was subsequently rushed to Bingham University Teaching Hospital in Jos, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police Command said officers were deployed to the scene after a distress call was received at about 12:53 a.m., reporting gunshots around the Dumac Suites axis.
However, before the police arrived at the scene, it was discovered that the attackers had already fled with the victims.
The police said investigations have commenced, while joint efforts involving the police, military, and other security agencies are ongoing to rescue the abducted children and apprehend those responsible.
“All available resources are being deployed to ensure the victims are safely recovered,” the police added.
