The Adamawa Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six family members in the early hours of Tuesday by suspected bandits from their home in Gare Village, Pallam District of Madagali Local Government Area—the hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
The command noted that it has launched a comprehensive operation in collaboration with sister agencies and community vigilantes to trace the abductors and rescue the victims.
According to a press statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the attack was reported by residents shortly after the assailants struck, prompting an immediate response from the police.
The rescue operation, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, involves a sustained search-and-rescue effort and reinforced patrols across Madagali and other border communities.
The police said the operation would continue until the abducted family members are safely recovered and the area is secured against further threats.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops of 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force to the affected area and surrounding communities,” Nguroje stated.
The command also affirmed that the police, alongside the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, remain fully committed to protecting lives and property across Adamawa State.
The police warned that any individuals or groups involved in violent acts would face the full weight of the law. It further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies, report suspicious activities, and avoid actions that could compromise ongoing operations.
