Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the North-West Youth Leader of the Tinubu/Shettima APC campaign in Zamfara State, Bashir Gusau, in a daring nighttime raid at his family house in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital.
Over 30 heavily armed men reportedly stormed the youth leader’s residence, overpowered everyone present, and forcibly took him away right in front of his family.
Family relatives confirmed the heartbreaking incident to journalists early Thursday morning, revealing that the abduction has plunged the entire household into panic over his safety and well-being.
Meanwhile, security agencies were promptly alerted by distressed family members and neighbours immediately after the gunmen fled with their victim.
However, as of this morning, police and other security agencies who have launched a search operation said there has been no trace of Bashir Gusau or any breakthrough in locating his whereabouts.
Furthermore, no group has publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, and no ransom demand has been communicated to the family or authorities involved in the search efforts.
The Guild reports that this brazen abduction has once again highlighted the persistent and growing threat of banditry across Zamfara State.
It has also raised serious questions about the effectiveness of ongoing security measures in protecting citizens, especially political figures.
