German drops Goretzka, Hummel’s ahead Euro 2024 kick-off

Ahead of the Euro 2024 kick-off, the German national football team head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has dropped Bayern Munich Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka, and the Borussia Dortmund defender, Mat Hummel, from the squad expected to represent the country at the tournament.

Both players were dropped by the coach inspite of their recent rise in form which has attracted praise from their managers especially their contributions to Bayern and Dortmund progress to the UEFA champions league qualifications.

Their exclusion from the team expected to represent the host nation, German, at the tournament was revealed on Tuesday by sources inside the country’s national football team.

Rather than released the team sheet-like graphic as expected, Nagelsmann has chosen another strategy of releasing the players names one after the other.

According to a sources, Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka will not be called up to the national team for this tournament barring something out of the blue. He has also been informed of the decision by the country’s football governing body.

Goretzka, who had granted interviews to at least five news outlets, to draw the coach’s attention to himself but it was all for naught.

The 29-year-old, who is also rumored to leave the Rekordmeister (Bayern) soon unless the next coach has something to do with it.

For Hummels, the exclusion came days after his goal against PSG assisted Dortmund proceed to the UEFA champions league final where they face Spanish giant, Real Madrid.
