Former IGP dies after brief illness in Abuja hospital

The former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has been reported to have passed on after a brief illness at the age 69.

He was said to have passed been pronounced dead by medical experts at Cedar Crest Hospital, Abuja, where he was being treated after failing ill.

It was learnt that the family was informed by the hospital on Sunday after the former police boss died.

Although, his family and the Nigeria Police Force were yet to issue official statements to confirm the development but a family source explained he died after a brief illness.

He was reportedly flown into the country from France where he had attended his wife’s birthday.

“This is a huge loss! Oga was battling cancer. He had done a series of tests and underwent treatments, then got fed up and was prepared for the future.

“He was flown into Abuja from Morocco, having earlier attended a birthday party in Europe”.
