The Former Defence Minister, Badaru Abubakar, has denied reports suggesting that he is planning to defect from the All Progressive’s Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as false and misleading.
The denial follows reports circulating widely on social media alleging that the former defence minister was engaged in consultations aimed at leaving the ruling party for the ADC.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abubakar described the report as “entirely false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief,” stressing that there was no truth to claims that he was considering a defection from the APC.
He stated that he has not held, nor is he holding, any discussions with members or leaders of the ADC regarding a possible move, insisting that such narratives exist only in the imagination of their promoters.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, the former defence minister noted that his commitment to the party remains firm, emphasising that he is a founding member who has contributed significantly to its growth and stability over the years.
According to him, his allegiance to the APC remains “absolute and unwavering,” adding that he continues to support the party’s leadership, vision, and ideals.
The minister urged members of the APC and the general public to disregard the rumours, describing them as speculative and politically motivated, with no basis in fact.
Abubakar reiterated that he has no intention of defecting to any other political party, maintaining that he remains fully aligned with the APC and its ongoing efforts to deliver good governance to Nigerians.
