As part of the federal government empowerment plans, the Ministry of Women Affairs has trained not less than 30 women in Bauchi state in various vocational skills, including soap production, hand sanitizers, and other disinfectants. The training done in partnership with QUB Resources Limited, Abuja, was organized under the ministry’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Workshop.
The training which was tagged “building women’s economic resilience for inclusive recovery” ’is aimed at attaining personal and family hygiene and improving their means of livelihood.
A representative of QUB Resources Limited, Lydia Shehu, said that the skills taught were not capital intensive, adding that the trainees could start up the business with little income and train other women on the products.
Shehu lauded the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen for organizing the training, especially as covid-19 has had diverse effects on the country.
Two of the beneficiaries, Abigael Yusuf and Rukayat Uthman, commended the organizers for adding that the training would go a long way in reducing idleness and poverty in some homes.
