Nollywood actress Faithia Balogun has announced the passing of her mother, revealing that the loss occurred on the eve of her 55th birthday celebration and was kept from her until after the event.
The actress explained that the news was deliberately withheld to allow her to celebrate her birthday without distress.
She added, however, that learning of her mother’s death afterward was devastating and difficult to fully comprehend.
Faithia shared the news on Monday via her Instagram page, stating that her mother passed on Wednesday, February 5, the night before the birthday party she held on Thursday.
Describing her late mother as a central figure in her life, both emotionally and spiritually, the filmmaker and producer wrote, “Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party, and the news was cruelly kept away from me.”
She further described her mother as her “cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner,” adding that the pain of her passing remains overwhelming.
Faithia noted that burial arrangements have not yet been finalized and will be announced at a later date, urging well-wishers to respect the family’s privacy.
Since the announcement, condolences have poured in from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry.
Actress Aisha Lawal, actors Muyiwa Ademola and Salami Rotimi, as well as Wunmi Toriola, among others, have expressed sympathy and prayed for the repose of her mother’s soul as the family continues to mourn.
