Enyimba Football Club has announced the appointment of German tactician, Detchoua Emmanuel, as head coach amid the lackluster performances and results in the ongoing season.
The appointment was informed by the Abia State government, where the club is based, stating that the NPFL club has taken a new chapter in its coaching personnel as it attempts to improve in its performances in chase of league title and domestic cup competitions.
The Commissioner of Information, Okey Kanu, in a statement, disclosed that the measure, which takes immediate effect, is in line with the state’s interest in ensuring Enyimba remains Nigeria’s most decorated club and one of Abia State’s most prominent sporting brands across Africa.
”The administration of Governor Alex Otti is determined to restore Enyimba’s pride of place as a dominant force in Nigerian and African football, while also repositioning the club for professionalism, sustainability and strong corporate governance,” the released statement reads.
”The appointment of coach Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel is part of the strategic efforts to reinvigorate the technical direction of the club, strengthen its competitive edge, and lay a solid foundation for long-term success,” it continued.
”Emmanuel is a highly experienced football tactician with CAF A, B and C coaching licences and has worked as technical adviser and head coach with reputable clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, delivering impressive results.”
The management stressed that Governor Otti has confidence in the new appointee due to his experience, technical competence and professional discipline.
It mentioned that the club’s stakeholders believe that Emmanuel will contribute significantly to the rebuilding process of the club to return it to its rightful position as a powerhouse in Nigerian and African football.
