The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna chapter has won the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s Ungwar Sarki polling unit in Kaduna North Local Government Area.
Contrary to the expectations before the poll, of the 159 votes cast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 62 votes as against 86 recorded by the PDP in the chairmanship election.
In the councillorship election result announced by the Presiding Officer for the Unit, Muhammad Sani, on Saturday, the ruling party further polled 53 votes, while the major opposition party, PDP, garnered 100 votes out of 162 total votes cast during the council election.
Earlier, El-Rufai, the APC leader for the state, after casting his vote at the polling unit, declared that he was not desperate to win at all costs.
The governor noted that the aim behind his actions were basically to reduce voter apathy and improve the voting process using the Electronic Voting Machine.
According to the Governor, the introduction of the electronic voting system by his administration has clearly shown that the APC-led government in Kaduna state does not believe in cheating or rigging election.
The overall result of the Kaduna North Local Government was however still being awaited at the collation centre as of the time of this reporting.
