In a compassionate move aimed at alleviating the hardship of victims of recent fire incidents, the Ekiti State Government has disbursed a total sum of N50 million as relief support to victims of fire disaster in the state.
The funds disbursed by the state government was part of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration’s resolve to assist residents get over their challenges.
The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, made the presentation on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti during a cheque distribution ceremony for another batch of beneficiaries.
Addressing the victims, Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Ekiti residents, stating that the gesture reflects his government’s inclusive governance approach and its resolve to ensure no citizen is left behind.
“This intervention may not fully cover your losses, but it is our sincere effort to ease your burden and provide some level of comfort,” the governor said.
He described the fund as both a symbol of empathy and a lifeline for victims to begin rebuilding their lives and livelihoods, adding that the state would continue to prioritize the well-being of all citizens, especially in times of crisis.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for the timely support, describing it as a beacon of hope during a difficult time.
