EFCC arrests Abuja house agent over N288m fraud

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an Abuja-based house agent, Hajia Adamu, over an alleged property fraud involving N288 million.

The Commission said the suspect reportedly obtained the money from a client, Tanko Yawale, under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of a property in Abuja.

According to the EFCC, the transaction concerned a property located at House 31, Haile Selassie Street, in the upscale Asokoro district of the capital.

The agency alleged that after receiving the payment, Adamu failed to provide valid ownership documents and subsequently became evasive, raising suspicion.

This prompted the victim to file a formal petition with the EFCC, triggering an investigation that led to her arrest.

The anti-graft agency added that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the inquiry.
