Edo lawmakers summon Natasha over video post on 2baba

The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Hon. Natasha Osawaru, wife of Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, to appear before its Committee on Ethics and Privileges following a viral video that sparked widespread public criticism.

The incident occurred at a London airport, where Osawaru was captured in a bystander’s video engaging in a heated verbal exchange with her husband. The footage, posted online, quickly went viral across social media platforms and generated intense public reactions.

During Tuesday’s plenary, lawmakers expressed concerns that the conduct displayed in the video had brought the Assembly into disrepute, prompting calls for immediate disciplinary action.

Speaker Blessing Agbebaku described the behaviour as “unbecoming of a legislator,” noting that it had subjected the House to ridicule and undermined its public image.

The Assembly directed Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency, to appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee within seven days to explain her actions. The committee is expected to investigate the matter and report its findings to the House within two weeks.

The summon underscores the Assembly’s insistence on accountability and its expectation that lawmakers maintain decorum in both public and private conduct.
