The former Chairman of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Board of Trustees, Rev. Sunday Agang, has regained his freedom after being held captive for three days.
Agang was abducted from his residence in Farin Gada, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, on March 24 by armed men who took him to an unknown location.
The acting ECWA Public Relations Officer, Danjuma Auta, confirmed the cleric’s release but did not provide details on how he was freed.
“We are delighted to announce that Rev. Prof. Agang is now safe and back with his family,” he said.
In a statement released on Friday, ECWA thanked God for answering the prayers of its members worldwide, describing the pastor’s release as a testament to faith and collective prayer. The church also expressed appreciation to everyone who prayed for his safe return.
However, ECWA noted that the incident underscores the growing insecurity across the country and urged authorities to take decisive action against criminal networks to restore peace and safety.
“The rising wave of kidnappings, which has sadly become a source of income for some, is a threat to our collective security and must be addressed urgently,” the statement said.
