Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has promoted his three daughters, Halima, Fatima, and Mariya, to senior leadership positions within the Dangote Group, marking a major shift in the management of the conglomerate.
In this latest restructuring, Halima assumes the role of Group Executive Director for the Dangote Family Office and International Offices located in Dubai and London, where she will oversee governance frameworks, operational models, and ensure alignment with group standards across global activities.
Fatima has been named Group Executive Director for Commercial Operations in Oil and Gas, leading energy businesses including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, while continuing to manage corporate communications, administration, facilities, and procurement functions.
Meanwhile, Mariya takes charge as Group Executive Director for Commercial Operations in Cement and Foods Businesses, focusing on market expansion, customer enhancement, and operational integration to drive growth in consumer sectors.
The appointments, announced on Tuesday, are part of a succession strategy as Dangote advances his Vision 2030 plan to transform the group into a $100 billion enterprise by the end of the decade.
An internal note from the group emphasized that the move reflects a commitment to sustainability, stewardship, and succession, ensuring the next generation is empowered to lead the conglomerate while preserving the family legacy.
Dangote himself praised their involvement, saying: “My three daughters, Mariya, Halima and Fatima, are all senior executives at the group, and I can tell you for a fact that they are critical to the success of our business.”
The daughters’ prior experience, including board seats at Dangote Cement and operational roles in sugar and flour divisions, has prepared them for these expanded responsibilities across the group’s global operations.
