The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has appointed Akedo Edet as the new head of the state’s Bureau of Statistics.
According to the government the governor said the appointment was part of ongoing efforts to reposition the state’s statistical system to support effective governance.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Linus Obogo.
“The appointment reinforces the administration’s commitment to data-driven governance and excellence,” the government said noting that the appointment takes immediate effect.
It added that the decision was aimed at strengthening statistical coordination across ministries, departments and agencies, as well as promoting transparency and evidence-based planning in policy formulation.
Edet is expected to deploy his expertise to improve data collection, management and dissemination in the state, in line with the administration’s development objectives.
