The traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who was recently suspended from his post, has been remanded at the Ilaro Correctional Centre after failing to fulfil the bail conditions granted by the Ifo Magistrate Court.
This development follows his arraignment on charges of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The Police Command had earlier brought the monarch before the court over allegations of assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Areola Abraham, in a widely circulated video.
Ogunjobi, who is already serving a six-month suspension imposed by the Ogun State Government for conduct deemed unbecoming of a traditional ruler, now faces further legal repercussions.
Spokesperson for the Ilaro Correctional Centre, Yinka Odukoya confirmed the monarch’s remand.
“Yes, he is in our custody, which means he has been unable to meet the bail conditions granted by the court yesterday. However, as soon as he does, he will be released,” Odukoya stated.
