Court remands Kaduna farmer for raping 70yrs old widow

A farmer identified as Timothy Ayock has been remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly having forceful sexual intercourse with a 70-year-old widow in Tagama community, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on December 26.

Ayock was arraigned before a State High Court sitting in Kafanchan on two counts of rape and criminal force, contrary to Sections 257 and 237 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.

During his trial, the state counsel from the Ministry of Justice, Daniel Isah, told the court that the offences were committed on December 26, 2025.

When the charges were read to the defendant in a language he understands, he pleaded not guilty to the offences levelled against him.

The prosecutor then prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the state to present evidence in the case.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Michael Eugene, ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Kafanchan Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter until March 5 for hearing.
