Man Utd rejects contract extension for Brazilian player

Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder, Casemiro, will depart the club at the end of the season.

The club, in a released statement, disclosed that the Brazilian national who joined the club in 2022 will leave the club at the end of his ongoing contract which is to wind down in the summer.

In the circular, the mancunian side eulogized the central midfielder for his input since he moved in from Real Madrid, playing in the centre midfield and defence to help the team to FA Cup and League Cup successes.

”Casemiro will leave Manchester United this summer, upon the expiry of his contract,” reads the statement issuedĀ on Thursday.

”The legendary enjoyed four seasons, playing 146 games and scoring 21 goals to date. The Brazilian captainĀ played a major role in helping United win the 2023 Carabao Cup, scoring a header in a colossalĀ performanceĀ againstĀ Newcastle.

”Supporters will have the opportunityĀ to recognize Casemiro’s contributions at the final home game of the seasonĀ againstĀ Nottingham Forest.” it concluded.

After the disclosure on Thursday, the 33-year-old also bid farewell to the club saying, ”From the first day I walked out of this beautiful stadium, I felt passion at Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.

”It is not easy to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We will have a lot to fight for together, my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed,” he added.

”Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans. Forever Red Devil,” he concluded.
