The Benue State Government has directed all political appointees interested in contesting for elective positions to formally indicate their interest and submit their resignation letters.
The directive follows a noticeable increase in political activities and leadership aspirations across the state, as the government seeks to ensure orderliness, transparency, and sustained focus on governance.
In a statement issued yesterday by Deputy Governor Sam Ode, Office of the Deputy Governor, political appointees were informed that they must submit formal expressions of interest along with their resignation letters.
Ode noted that all letters and expressions of interest must be forwarded to the Office of the Deputy Governor on or before Thursday, December 18, 2025, for onward transmission to the Executive Governor for further consideration.
The government said the move is aimed at promoting good governance and safeguarding the achievements of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration as political activities intensify.
According to the statement, “In light of the recent increase in political activities within the state, and having observed with keen interest the diverse aspirations for leadership roles aimed at promoting good governance and advancing the laudable achievements of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia’s administration.
“Political appointees interested in contesting for elective positions are kindly requested to indicate their interest and submit a formal resignation letter accordingly.
