Benue community protests decay of only Govt. school

Residents of Agila in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of their only government-owned secondary school.

The school, a crucial centre of learning in the rural community, has fallen into severe disrepair, with damaged roofs, cracked walls, and poorly maintained surroundings, residents said.

Community members warn that the state of the facility poses serious safety risks to students and hinders effective teaching and learning.

Images and testimonies circulating online reveal a deteriorating structure marked by damaged roofing, cracked walls, and poorly maintained surroundings.

“This is the only state-owned facility we have here, and it’s in a terrible state,” one resident lamented. Another added, “Our children deserve a safe and conducive learning environment. This neglect is unacceptable.”

Residents are now appealing to the Benue State Government and relevant agencies to assess the situation and begin immediate rehabilitation, ensuring that students can learn in a safe and supportive environment.
