The Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission has appointed 31 judges to Sharia Courts in a bid to ensure reforms in its framework.
The Commission, following a rigourous process which included screening, evaluation and interviews, appointed the judges as well as 16 inspectors from the tree senatorial zones in the south, central and northern parts of the state to take over roles at the law frame.
Also part of the event was the approval of the elevation of several officers from the Registrar’s Cadre to the Inspectorate Cadre aimed at enhancing the oversight capacity of the Sharia Courts of Appeal.
Secretary to the Commission, Ibrahim Danjuma, who announced the appointments, congratulated the successful candidates and emphasized the need for integrity and diligence in their duties.
Danjuma hammered on how sacrosanct it is for all the designees to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and professionalism while discharging their responsibilities.”
The approvals were made during an emergency meeting of the Commission held to review key matters related to judicial appointments, with Danjuma urging the appointees to strictly adhere to ethical standards governing the judiciary.
