Bandits kill two, set ablaze Kaduna LG chairman’s vehicle

A gang of bandits have killed two people and also set ablaze a vehicle belonging to a local government in Kaduna.

The assailants were said to have fired gunshots sporadically at the two deceased, Bitrus David and Goma Idi, leading to their death and well as several properties destroyed, leading to massive unrest in the community

In addition to the fatalities, at least four vehicles were razed in fire, including the official vehicle of the local government chairman of Kajuru Local Government, Dauda Madaki, and another belonging to a prominent political figure, one Usman Stingo.

The attack, yesterday, at Ehwakya in the Ugom community, was said to have later spread to Dogon-Noma area of the state where the bandits invaded close to a burial gathering, where gunshots rang out close to the venue, causing widespread fear and confusion.

Chairman of the Ugom Progressive Union, Onnusim Ishaya, described the incident as devastating, saying,“The bandits attacked our community, shooting indiscriminately. Two of our young men have been confirmed dead.

“At the burial venue in Dogon-Noma, vehicles were burnt, including that of the council chairman,” he said.

Ishaya further noted that several residents remained unaccounted for at the time of filing this report and appealed to security agencies for urgent intervention.

“We are calling on the authorities to step in immediately. Our people are living in fear,” the community leader added.

Meanwhile, efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Kaduna State Police Command proved unsuccessful as calls and messages were not returned as of press time.
