Armed bandits have killed three police officers in Katsina following a deadly ambush on a patrol team deployed to secure communities ravaged by criminal activity.
The attack occurred during a routine patrol in Bakori Local Government Area on Tuesday around 12:44 p.m., along the Guga–Bakori axis.
The Katsina Police Command confirmed the fatalities, noting that the officers confronted armed attackers during an anti-crime operation, resulting in three deaths and injuries among the patrol team.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Aliyu Abubakar, two officers survived the confrontation with gunshot wounds and were promptly evacuated for medical attention.
“Our men responded bravely, but three gallant officers paid the ultimate price while defending public safety,” he said on Wednesday.
Abubakar added that investigations have commenced into the ambush, with security operatives mobilized to track, identify, and apprehend those responsible.
