Armed bandits launched a deadly attack on passengers along the Lambar Rabah–Mai-Kujera road in Sokoto State, killing one person and abducted several individuals.
Aside from killing and abducting the passengers, the gunmen destroyed vehicles during the operations that lasted for several minutes on the road.
During the operation, the assailants set up a blockade on the highway, halting vehicles before unleashing violence on unsuspecting commuters.
With no security operatives present, the bandits reportedly operated for over one hour, assaulting passengers, collecting their belongings and finally abducting several of them.
A security analyst identified as Bakatsine, who revealed the incident yesterday, appealed through his official social media handle for security support to rescue the victims from their abductors in the state.
“The attackers obstructed the road, forced vehicles to stop, and carried out their assault, leaving one person dead, kidnapping multiple travellers, and setting several vehicles on fire,” Bakatsine stated.
As of now, authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the attack.
