Zagami, a community in the south-western region of Katsina State, came under siege by unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits, who reportedly killed a three-day-old baby and abducted the mother during the attack.
Several other villagers were also reportedly murdered, with many others abducted, including women and children, during the hours-long assault.
As gathered, the horrific incident has left the community in deep mourning and outrage, as residents continue to grapple with the trauma of the attack, which occurred without any apparent resistance from security agencies.
The attack, as learnt, took place on Wednesday night in Zagami community, located in Yankara Ward of Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The assailants were said to have stormed the village around 8 p.m., according to a statement released Thursday by a security analyst, Bakatsine.
“In yet another heart-wrenching attack, bandits invaded Zagami village in Faskari LGA last night. A 3-day-old baby was murdered, and the mother abducted. Several people have been killed, and many are still missing,” he revealed.
According to Bakatsine, local sources said the community remains in deep shock, with grieving families and terrified villagers now living in fear of further violence. Many are calling for urgent intervention from security agencies and the Katsina State government.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by the authorities regarding the incident.
