Bandits kidnap dozens worshippers from Zamfara mosque

Amid rising banditry in the northern region, armed men have reportedly abducted scores of worshippers and injured many after attacking a mosque in Zamfara.

The abduction comes barely a month after hundreds of distressed residents protested against the ongoing attacks by gunmen on vulnerable communities.

As gathered, the worshippers were abducted during early morning (Subhi) prayers at the worship centre in in Dansadau area of Zamfara State.

According to a security analyst Bakatsine, who confirmed the attack on Monday through his account, over dozens were taken captive from the prayer ground, though the police is yet to confirm the exact number of victims.

“This morning, bandits attacked worshippers during Subhi prayer in Dansadau, Zamfara State, abducting several. Around 6 a.m., they also struck Wakeh in Kaduna State, killing and injuring residents,” Bakatsine wrote.

The source further noted that security agencies have been deployed to the community, but details of rescue operations remain unclear. Officials have yet to release an official statement addressing the incidents.

This latest attack adds to a troubling trend of violence in the North-West, where banditry, kidnappings, and communal clashes continue to displace thousands and disrupt local economies.
