Bandits abduct two Katsina varsity students after attackingĀ bus

By Awoniyi AdemideĀ

Despite efforts by community leaders to address banditry in the area, a group of armed men reportedly attacked a commercial bus along the Wawal Kaza-Dayi road in Katsina State, abducting several passengers.

The targeted Sharoon bus, transporting passengers from Zaria to Dutsin-Ma, was intercepted by assailants who blocked the road, forced the passengers out at gunpoint, and led them into the surrounding bushes.

Among those kidnapped were two 300-level students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Onwe Chiamaka and Noah Patience, both from the Sociology Department.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday, security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that the attack occurred in Kankara Local Government Area of the state around 1:30 p.m. yesterday.

A male student, Goza Doorchuji of the Library Science Department, was also abducted but later rescued by security forces.

Goza was freed following a swift response by security personnel, who launched a search operation after receiving a distress call.

A security source familiar with the operation said that personnel are combing the area to locate the perpetrators and rescue the remaining victims.

ā€œOur men are still on the ground, and we will not rest until the remaining students are reunited with their families,ā€ the source assured.
