Gunmen attacked Tudun Mallam village in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, kidnapping 10 women during a midnight raid in the community.
Several community members reportedly sustained injuries during the attack, which occurred while most villagers had already retired for the day.
According to an eyewitness, the gunmen broke into homes and kidnapped the victims without encountering resistance from security personnel.
Security analyst Bakatsine, who confirmed the attack on Monday morning via his social media account, said that two villagers sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving treatment at Udutu Primary Health Centre.
He added that the armed men, before fleeing to unknown destinations, also looted farm equipment belonging to villagers, many of whom had fled for safety following the invasion.
Bakatsine further questioned the effectiveness of government protection, saying “Communities say attacks and kidnappings are continuing despite claims of improved security. Where exactly is the improved security being promised?”
Meanwhile, police authorities have yet to release a formal statement on the incident, and the fate of the abducted women remains uncertain.
