Atiku rallies support for ADC ahead FCT council election

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared the African Democratic Congress (ADC) the only party capable of steering Nigeria out of its current challenges, urging voters in the Federal Capital Territory to rally behind its candidates in the upcoming local council elections.

He expressed strong confidence in the party’s ability to address the country’s socio-economic and political pressures, emphasizing that meaningful national renewal must start with credible grassroots leadership and wider public participation in democratic processes.

Atiku also commended the ADC chairmanship aspirant for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Moses Paul, describing him as a youthful leader capable of connecting with residents and revitalizing local governance through responsive and inclusive administration.

Speaking on Thursday during ADC campaign activities across AMAC ahead of the February 21 area council elections, Atiku began his tour at Apo Wasa, engaging supporters and community members.

Highlighting Paul’s appeal to younger constituents, Atiku stressed that effective municipal leadership requires relatability and trust, particularly among youths seeking representation and opportunity within local government structures.

“Dr. Mo is the kind of Nigerian young people in Abuja can relate to and trust with the future of the Municipal Council,” he said.

He called on residents across the territory to give broad support to ADC candidates, describing the election as an early opportunity to reset political direction from the community level.

Reiterating his endorsement, Atiku stated that the party offers a reliable path for tackling persistent governance challenges and restoring public confidence in leadership. “ADC is undoubtedly the party that will salvage Nigeria, and the surest place to start is with Dr. Mo in AMAC,” he added.

Framing the council race as more than a routine contest, he portrayed it as a test of citizens’ readiness to pursue broader reforms through local engagement, sustained voter turnout, and collective commitment to accountable governance.
