English midfielder, Eberechi Eze, has witten his name in the Premier League folklore after his stunning hattrick against Tottenham Hotspur.
Eze scored in both halves, two in the first, to become the first player to score a hattrick in matches involving Arsenal and Tottenham, known as the North London Derby, in Premier League history.
The 27-year-old also became the fourth player to record the accomplishment in history after Ted Drake in October 1934, Terry Dyson, August 1961 and Alan Sunderland in December 1978.
The former Crystal Palace man helped Arsenal beat rivals, Spurs, 4-1, as the Gunners extended their lead at the Premier League table to six points adrift of Chelsea.
Eze, in the 41st minute of the game, received a pass in front of Spurs’ eighteen-yard box from fellow Gunner, Declan Rice, following a boisterous attack to prod home after taking down two opposition players to make it two-nill for the north London club.
After further five minutes, the Englishman powered home a left footed strike after being fed in front of the opposition’s goal mouth to score his second and completed his hat trick after running dangerously to Tottenham’s box to produce a sublime shot which went in to score fourth at the Emirates.
“That is crazy,” he said after the achievement.
“Special day, man. Special day for me, my family. I don’t think I could’ve ever dreamt of it. This is more special than that. I can only thank God. Special day, man.”
