Army rescues 28yr old woman from Benue kidnappers’ den

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have rescued a 28-year-old woman abducted by suspected kidnappers in Benue State, following a successful intelligence-led operation.

The victim, identified as Member Ityavber, has been reunited with her family and is currently receiving medical care, while efforts continue to track down and apprehend her abductors.

The rescue took place at Tse-Ubena village in Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, where troops deployed from Tor-Donga, in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout.

In a separate operation, troops acting on credible intelligence on armed herders in Mbapa and Mbabuande communities of Gwer West Local Government Area arrested two suspects.

The suspects were apprehended by troops of Sector 1, deployed from Bilawa-Jor and Naka, following complaints of repeated attacks on the communities.

The Force Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response during both operations.

He also reassured residents of the task force’s continued commitment to safeguarding communities, particularly as the farming season approaches.
