Army nabs Boko Haram logistics supplier in Borno

By Awoniyi Ademide

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and combat terrorism in the state, troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended a suspected accomplice accused of supplying logistics to the Boko Haram insurgent group in Borno State.

The suspect, Ahmadu Dogo, is alleged to have aided the terrorists by supplying them with motorcycles and essential equipment, which they reportedly used to facilitate their movements and operations.

During his arrest, which took place in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, soldiers also disrupted a critical supply channel for the insurgent group.

Several incriminating items were recovered from the suspect, including PMS-filled bottles, charms, suspected hard drugs, rings, syringes, and other personal effects.

According to a military source on Wednesday, the suspect was intercepted while allegedly attempting to smuggle fuel and other illicit materials intended for terrorists operating near the Lake Chad region.

Dogo was caught transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) disguised in 12 sacks and concealed inside plastic bottles branded as Fearless energy drink.

During interrogation, the Boko Haram accomplice confessed that he was heading to Gamboru-Ngala, a border community notorious for serving as a supply route for armed groups operating on the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin.

“This arrest is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to cut off terrorist access to critical supplies. It demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and civilian-military collaboration in counterterrorism efforts,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further interrogation as investigations continue.
