Army kills four bandits in Katsina

The Nigerian Army has killed four bandits during a repelled attack in a Katsina community to prevent cases of casualties and attempted abduction on residents.

The military, after receiving a distress call from residents in the area over the bandits killing a woman, stormed the area and engaged in a fierce gun battle with the terrorists which led to four of the insurgents killed.

During the clash last night at the Dan-Soda community in Dandume Local Government, the assailants were said to have stormed a residential settlement, triggering panic among the residents and opening fire which resulted in the death of the female death victim.

An army officer, on anonymity, said that upon receiving distress calls, troops swiftly mobilised to the community and confronted the attackers in a gun battle that also forced several others to retreat.

“Our men engaged the bandits decisively,”

“Four of them were neutralised, while others escaped with gunshot injuries. Most importantly, no resident was taken away,”the source said.

He further explained that the stationed troops were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle armed groups terrorising rural communities.

Meanwhile, residents have since commended the military for its rapid intervention, noting that the presence of the troops helped restore calm in the area.
