Army arrests three terrorist informants in Plateau

Troops of the Nigeria Army have apprehended three suspected terrorist informants in the Agingi area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The arrests came just two days after two other informants were detained in Borno, as part of the military’s ongoing efforts to eliminate persistent attacks in the northern region.

The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Yusuf Hussaini, 18-year-old Saleh Mohammed, and 19-year-old Muazu Yunusa. The Army said the trio was found in possession of three dagger knives, heightening suspicions about their activities and possible links to criminal groups.

“They are currently in military custody while investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement and any connections with armed groups,” the Army stated on Wednesday.

In a separate operation, troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested a notorious armed robber in Lamingo, Jos East Local Government Area. The suspect, 40-year-old Suleiman Mohammed, had been terrorising residents and engaging in repeated criminal activities that caused widespread fear in the community.

His arrest followed coordinated intelligence efforts between military personnel and community members, enabling security forces to track and apprehend him without incident. The suspect has been handed over to the Keystone Maijuju Police Division for further investigation and legal proceedings.

According to the Army, both operations are part of sustained intelligence-driven efforts to curb criminal activities, dismantle support networks aiding terrorists, and strengthen security across vulnerable communities in Plateau State.

“Operations are ongoing, and troops remain committed to protecting lives and property,” the Army added. “Residents are encouraged to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.”
