Soldiers from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have captured a suspected arms dealer in Taraba State.
The arms dealer, identified as Adamu Usman, was apprehended during a targeted raid at his residence in Maraban Gassol of the state.
The spokesperson, Captain Oni Olubodunde, who revealed yesterday that the operation was based on credible intelligence, stated that the suspect was arrested on January 13, 2025, in the Gassol Local Government Area.
“During the search, troops discovered an illegally fabricated submachine gun, believed to be connected to arms trafficking activities,” Oni noted.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism and precision in executing the operation.
He reaffirmed the brigade’s dedication to combating illegal arms proliferation and maintaining peace in the region.
The Commander also urged citizens to collaborate with security forces by providing reliable information to help address security challenges effectively.
