Army apprehends Kaduna bandit dress in military uniform

Nigerian troops under 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven have apprehended a suspected bandit disguised in full military combat gear, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition in the process.

As learnt, the suspect was arrested for impersonating a soldier to carry out robberies in the area using a false identity.

During the operation, troops recovered several items from the suspect, including one AK-47 rifle, a magazine with three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, seven used shells, a counterfeit vigilante identification card, a mobile phone, and two ATM cards.

A military source confirmed that the arrest took place in Katsit community, located in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The source added that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to determine the extent of his activities and assist in identifying other members of his criminal network.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, troops raided a suspected gun-running hideout in Kwanar Lauje, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Although the suspects at the location fled before troops arrived, the operation resulted in the recovery of another AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, an AK-47 buttstock, 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one 9mm round, two 12.7mm rounds, and a motorcycle abandoned at the scene.

All recovered items are being held securely as security forces intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle their network.
