APC postpones Oyo stakeholders meeting indefinitely

By Marycelia Agim

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has delayed its proposed large-scale stakeholders assembly, saying the adjustment will allow additional consultations and improved coordination as the party intensifies preparations for future political engagements.

Party officials said the decision reflects efforts to broaden participation and strengthen internal cohesion, while maintaining momentum from recent reconciliation moves that leaders believe have stabilised the organisation after years of internal disputes.

Olawale Sadare, the state publicity secretary, explained that the event was designed to expand on a recently completed intra-party mobilisation across the state’s 14 federal constituencies and to draw in a wider circle of supporters and allies.

In a statement issued Friday in Ibadan, Sadare said the outdoor meeting earlier fixed for Tuesday would be moved to another date to be announced, adding that it was arranged by the state leadership alongside the Oyo State Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

He said the party had recently shown its capacity to overcome divisions, stating, “Recently, we demonstrated to the world that our great party possesses a potent mechanism to resolve all the internal crises that had slowed down our progress since 2019.”

Sadare added that the initiative aimed to widen engagement and reinforce unity ahead of upcoming contests, saying, “This time, we want to raise the bar by involving more stakeholders in the APC from within and outside the state since we are all united by a common cause.”

He linked the mobilisation to support for the presidency and state ambitions, stating, “An average patriot wants President Bola Tinubu to do a second term in office to enable him to consolidate on the gains of his Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He further said the gathering would serve to receive defectors and signal early election planning, adding, “So, we want to set out early enough and ensure that all hands are on deck to run a hitch-free and fruitful electioneering, as we are poised to return Mr President and also reclaim power in Oyo State in 2027.”
