The Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria has adjusted it’s constitution to enable more of its reforms alongside aiding more of its contributions for societal development.
The Ansarudeen adopted it’s amended constitution after 65 years to align with the regulations of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, in its quest to ensure more contributions towards health and educational sector.
During the enactment program held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce Conference and Exhibition Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday, the group held that the motive centred on bringing the amendments up to date following a reviewing process.
The missioner at the occasion, Abdulraham Ahmed, said, “Since 1961 was the last time the society had a registered constitution since it’s a requirement by the Corporate Affairs Commission that we must have a registered constitution.
“That one has been ammended and there have been reviews, so what we are doing now is just bringing our constitution up to date in the light of new realities.”
Ahmed uttered that the amendment would allow the religious group function better in its 103 years in existence. He added, “Ansarudeen has contributed to the education sector, the primary and secondary and tertiary institutions.
“We have contributed immensely to social developments, healthcare general welfare for the masses. There is no part of this country than the Ansarudeen is not represented, ether a school or mosque. This we have been doing over time and with what we are doing today, it will help us do more.”
The National President, Mosediq Kazeem, said, ” For a society that has ensured and flourished for over a century, this is no ordinary gathering. For about 15 years, our great society, one of the foremost Muslim faith-based organizations has sought to adopt a properly ratified constitution. Yet, despite our stature and legacy, we have had to rely on what we are in the eyes of the law, merely working documents to guide our affairs.
“This meeting therefore presents us with a rare and defining opportunity, an opportunity to correct that anomaly and to give proper legal and institutional expression to our governance.
“This administration has the chance to crown it’s achievements with the passive of the ammended constitution, finally breaking the jinx which has for years delayed this important milestone to the lasting benefit of our society.”
Kazeem spoke on the achievements of the group saying, “Only recently, an anonymous donor contributed the sum of N10 million to our newly created National Zakat Fund.” He also mentioned that the Ansarudeen Foundation and AnsarCare are m inaugurated while it’s travel arm, ADSON Travels and Tours has yearly recorded an increase in number of pilgrims.
The President also disclosed that the association’s new national headquarter, under renovation, will be ready by May of this year.
He urged the stakeholders to imbibe themselves in line with the constitution, as well as calling in the Constitution Harmonization Committee to engage well meaning individuals of the group not do dissipate the collective energy and focus on the broader objective of strengthening the institution.
