The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old woman, identified as Eucharia Ogochukwu, over alleged cyberbullying, criminal conspiracy, and defamation of character involving a senior police officer.
Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) said the arrest followed complaints that the suspect engaged in coordinated online activities aimed at damaging the reputation of a very senior police officer who previously served in the Command.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
He said the suspect was apprehended at about 3:20 p.m. on December 31, 2025, in Awka, following intelligence-led investigations that traced the alleged online defamation to her.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly used digital platforms to circulate defamatory content against the officer, who holds the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police. Police said the suspect made useful statements during interrogation.
The Command added that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals who may be connected with the alleged cyber-related offences.
