Anambra State-born businessman and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has been conferred with the title “Ife-Igbo-Ji-Ka-Mba” by the paramount traditional ruler of Anambra, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpe.
“he honour was bestowed by the Monarch, together with the Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri Traditional Council, in recognition of Obi Cubana’s ‘visionary leadership, value-driven entrepreneurship, and commitment to social impact,’ noting that his initiatives project Ndi Igbo positively on the global stage.
According to the chairman of the Cubana Group, in a statement issued yesterday, the title Ife-Igbo-Ji-Ka-Mba translates loosely as “the pride of the Igbo before the world.”
The conferment ceremony, which took place in the historic town of Enugwu-Ukwu, attracted dignitaries from banking, oil and gas, real estate, and hospitality, as well as community leaders and business executives, who gathered to celebrate the occasion.
“The title, which translates loosely as ‘the pride of the Igbo before the world,’ is reserved for individuals who have distinguished themselves in enterprise and community development,” Cubana wrote.
Obi Cubana expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as humbling, and reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives that foster economic empowerment and communal development.
He added that the chieftaincy title would further motivate him to uphold and promote Igbo heritage both within Nigeria and beyond its shores.
