Alia appoints Francis as Benue education board boss

By Mary Odeh

The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Terna Francis as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examinations Board.

According to the Governor, the appointment is part of his administration’s commitment to reforming and strengthening the education sector in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that it takes immediate effect.

The new board was established following the recent passage of a law by the Benue State House of Assembly, which merged the Bureau for Education Quality Assurance and the defunct Benue State Examinations Board into a single, more effective institution.

The merger aims to promote efficiency, improve assessment standards, and enhance learning outcomes across the state.

While congratulating Francis, Governor Alia urged him to bring his wealth of experience, integrity, and innovative leadership to bear in repositioning the state’s educational assessment and quality assurance system.

He further charged the new Executive Secretary to pursue excellence, transparency, and accountability in line with his administration’s vision for a results-driven education system.

Reaffirming that education remains a top priority, the Governor said the new board must serve as a catalyst for discipline, continuous improvement, and high-quality standards across all levels of learning in Benue State.
