The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has paid a working visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he briefed the President on the current developments in the state.

The visit comes amid lingering controversies over disputed offshore oil wells involving Akwa Ibom and neighbouring Cross River State, an issue that has sparked political and legal debates in recent weeks.

In a statement following the meeting, the governor said discussions focused on ongoing development initiatives, key infrastructure projects, and areas of collaboration between the Federal Government and Akwa Ibom State.

He noted that the engagement was part of efforts to strengthen alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda to ensure sustainable growth and improved welfare for residents.

“We had fruitful discussions on ongoing development efforts, key projects, and areas of collaboration between the Federal Government and Akwa Ibom State as we continue to align with the Renewed Hope agenda for the benefit of our people,” the governor stated.

While details of the oil wells dispute were not officially disclosed, sources familiar with the matter suggested that the visit may be connected to renewed discussions on revenue allocation and resource control affecting the state.

The governor expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for granting him an audience despite his busy schedule and commended his commitment to the continued progress of Akwa Ibom State.
